COFFEE - Coffee THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT:

THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT: Short black, long black, café latte, and macchiato? Espresso: Also the name for short black. It is the usual 7 grams serve of fresh ground coffee, aerated at pressure with 30ml. of water at 86 oC. It is the basic coffee recipe. Macchiato: The word means “stained” so it’s a cup of espresso “stained” with a dash of milk, usually hot. Café Latte: Better known as café au lait (and the French are thought to have invented it) tell this to an Italian! – a cup of espresso served as one-third coffee and two thirds of milk. Cappuccino: Said to be named after cappuccino monks and the distinctive brown cowls that cover their heads. A cup of espresso served as one-third coffee, one third steamed milk, one third froth, Sprinkled with chocolate. Long Black: Do not kid yourself that more is better. Also known as the Americano, a long is, in fact, an espresso served and therefore diluted-with an equal amount of water. If you wish to curl the hairs on your chest, ask for a short black doubled. Flat White: Next step down from macchiato, it’s a long black topped with milk-two thirds coffee, one-third milk. There you have it and now with our machines you can get it right every time all the time!
